Using PayPal to collect your payments

When you use PayPal to process your payments, PrestoBiz captures the order information and the customer's profile. The customer is then sent directly to your PayPal account to make the actual payment to you. The order total and customer's profile is automatically entered into the PayPal screen for their convenience - they simply need to provide their payment information to PayPal to complete the payment process.

Therefore, when you use PayPal to process your payments, you'll be using information captured by PrestoBiz to process and fulfill your orders, and information captured by PayPal to keep track of your payments.

More information on the PayPal process:

PrestoBiz uses the standard PayPal "buy now" button process, which requires that the customer click on the PayPal "buy now" button that appears at the conclusion of the ordering process. It is necessary that your customers actually click the PayPal Payment Button to initiate the payment process in PayPal.

There are a couple of tools available to assist you in this process:

(1) PayPal can be configured to send you a payment confirmation e-mail for each payment you receive. PrestoStore does pass the "Order #" from our system to PayPal's for each payment, so you can easily find the order # for each payment received.

(2) PrestoStore allows you to enter "Comments" on the "Orders" tab for each order you receive. It might be helpful to enter a note such as "PayPal payment received 08/01" each time you receive a payment from PayPal.

(3) You can easily remind your PayPal non-paying customers that they still need to pay you using PayPal. On the "Orders" tab, click the "View Details" link next to a transaction. Feel free to "Copy and Paste" the URL of this screen in a reminder e-mail that you create and send to your non-paying customers. They simply need to click the link in the e-mail you send to bring up the payment screen.

Also, you might consider integrating a merchant account directly to your web store. Unlike PayPal, a true merchant account will bill each of your customers' credit cards directly, right from your account with us. This way, each of your customers' credit cards are billed automatically - and immediately.

You can find out more information about merchant accounts and payment gateways on the Settings -> Payment Options screen.
